There is never a dull weekend in Philadelphia, but with so much going on, it’s easy to overlook some of the more affordable events that would make for the perfect date night.
Cheap Date is a guide to weekend events that are $20 and under. No matter who you chose to head out on the town with this weekend, Philly Views has you covered.
World Cafe Live
Settle in upstairs at World Cafe Live for a free night of Cuban food, cocktails, and music provided by Philly’s own Cuban band, Conjunto.
Helium Comedy Club
Two fresh-faced, must-watch comedic brothers make their way to Philly for a special event at the Helium Comedy Club. With appearances in 22 Jump Street and The Grinder, Kenny and Keith Lucas are an act you can’t miss.
University of Pennsylvania
Take your date out to enjoy an evening that will bring you both back to your childhood. Disney A Cappella will be hosting its fall show in Houston Hall.
200 S 12th St.
Bearlesque returns for First Friday this weekend. Enjoy an adult night out with the classical acts of the men of Bearlesque starting at 10 pm. It’s also followed by a huge dance party.
Take a trip back to the 1970s while helping raise money for Jenna’s Blessing Bags for the Homeless, an organization started in honor of Jenna Burleigh, a Temple University student who was killed earlier this year. Hard cider and mac and cheese specials will be available, followed by a raffle and a night of ’70s music and dancing.
Temple University Randal Theater
A witty satire adapted from the Carl Sternheim classic, Die Hose. It tells the story of how the Maske family’s lives are thrown into absolute chaos when wife Louise’s pants fall down during a town parade.
Walnut Street Theatre
Start the Christmas season off right by enjoying the Walnut Street Theatre’s production of A Christmas Carol.
Support local Philadelphia artists and start crossing things off your holiday shopping list with homemade gifts from artists and makers.
Philadelphia Improv Theater
Three students from the PHIT Training Center are chosen at random and paired with a veteran performer for an improv performance like no other.
A nice mix of local and traveling bands.
