Warehouse on Watts
This art show is made for millennials aka emoji users, and highlights emotional and mental health awareness through emojis, live body painting, and performances. There will also be DJ sets, a full bar/food, and emoji desserts. Event lasts 8 pm to midnight.
Ritz at the Bourse
This week’s midnight movie is Sixteen Candles, which means you should probably show up in leg warmers and crimped hair. We know ya want to.
We already put this in our Philadelphia summer festival guide, but we’re sayin it again. Twilight in the Gardens is a BYOBBS event (Bring Your Own Booze, Blanket, and Snacks), and guests are encouraged to relax and picnic in the space from 7 to 10 pm. This event will have crafting and live music from Hoochi Coochi.
This BBQ is a five day event, but it kicks off on Friday with a beer garden, grilled goodies, DJs, games, and line dancing. Event runs 5 to 8 pm.
Ed Bassmaster and Aunt Mary Pat will be talking Philly Sports at the Field House from 9 to 11 pm. You might want to ask your date if they’re into sports sometime before you walk in.
DJ Deejay is hosting two parties at The Barbary this Friday. The cover charge gets you into both. Get there at 10 pm for an hour of $1 beer and $3 cocktails, and dance the night away baby.
For one day only the ground floor of the Divine Lorraine will be transformed into a collection of time capsule moments, capturing the spirit of every era since it first opened. Think jazz trios, 1920s flappers, and disco divas. From 11 am to 1 pm, come and explore this historic building while enjoying music, yoga, free breakfast treats by Manitoba Harvest, cold brew coffee, and a dance party.
There is such thing as a podcast festival, and the hosts of the podcast the Crispy Noodle will be live recording their show from 2 to 3 pm.
Okay, so this festival lasts Saturday to Sunday, but you might as well check it out early before all the good stuff is gone. This outdoor event is the largest arts festival in the tri-state area, and celebrates the best variety of fine arts and crafts from across the country. Stop by and check out the clothes, jewelry, ceramics, paintings, sculptures, and photography, by known and emerging artists. Event lasts from 11 am to 7 pm on Saturday, and 11 am to 6 pm on Sunday.
The Emo Band will be playing a live karaoke show with a setlist filled with Dashboard Confessional, All Time Low, and New Found Glory. We know you all have a lil emo in you, even if it is deep-deep-deeep down, so don’t be afraid to flaunt it here. Event runs 8 pm to 1 am.
40th Street Field
Thee Phantom and The Illharmonic Orchestra will be holding a free hip hop orchestra concert at the Green Space on 40th & Walnut behind the library. Bring an adorable picnic for you and your date and feed each other grapes or something.
Tavern on Broad
So no one told you brunch was gonna be this way! Grab your friends and test your Friends trivia. Bottomless mimosas last 11 am to 3 pm and reservations are a must.
Vault + Vine
Time for a detox. Come learn about the benefits of essential oils and make your own jar of lavender bath salts to take home. Event lasts 10 am to 12 pm.
You know the drill: bring your own blanket and hang out while enjoying local brews on tap. All day event, noon to 10 pm.
New Liberty Distillery
Bring your pets, fam, and friends and come sample Philly food trucks to help crown one lucky winner. New Liberty Distilling will also be sampling fine spirits for free, and cocktails and beer will be available for purchase. Event runs 1 to 4 pm.
The Logan Hotel
Okay, okay this is a lil more than $20, but all proceeds go to the Morris Animal Refuge so if you can spare the extra few bucks you’ll be helping some animals out. From 1 to 2 pm or 3 to 4 pm there will be vinyasa yoga with Amrita, along with puppies (all available for adoption). Event is BYOM!
From 3 to 7 pm, relax in the sunshine by the water. Bring a cooler and enjoy some live performances by local artists.
