Friday 7.27

Summer Magick @ PMA

Philadelphia Museum of Art


Get out of the heat from 5 to 8:45 pm at the PMA where there will be live music, DIY art, a chance to chat with the curator, unconventional gallery tours, in-gallery dance performances, and ritualistic healing all for your leisure.


Twilight Yoga

The Pier


If you’ve been keeping tabs on the moon cycle, you know a full moon is on its way. This yoga session corresponds with the full moon and will have Chandra Namaskars (Moon Salutations) at the core of its yin practice. Class runs 8:30 to 9:30 pm.


VCR Party

Good Good Comedy Theatre


If you don’t know what a VCR is gtfo. From 8:30 to 10 pm, Joe Pickett (The Onion) and Nick Prueher (Late Show with David Letterman) will be hosting the Found Footage Festival full of VHS gold mine clips. The show was featured on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, so we know it’s good. Don’t forget to grab your tickets cause it’s probs going to sell out real quick.


Caldera Poetry Reading

Support your local artists, people! This poetry reading is just that, a time to listen and appreciate Philly based poets. Event runs 4 to 5:30 pm.


Potter Prom Night

Here’s another Harry Potter-themed night for ya’ll, and this time you really do have to get dressed up (don’t be a boring muggle). A night of dancing beneath floating candles, drinking butterbeer, taking prom pics, and competing for the best dressed wizard of the night awaits. Prom begins at 8 pm and your ticket gets you a free butterbeer!


Low-key Folk Night

House Concert

Philly’s Folksong Society presents Mama’s Broke, a folk duo from Canada with some crazy banjo/fiddle/guitar/mandolin/foot percussion that’ll be blues, punk, Celtic, Balkan and doom metal all in one. This epic show runs 7:30 to 10:30 pm.


High-Key Metal Night

Kung Fu Necktie

Acid King will be performing its heavy metal/gothic stoner metal music so if you’re in a head bangin’ and smoke breathing mood, this is the place for you. Show runs 7 to 10 pm.


Saturday 7.28

Fishtank Beer Garden

Punchline Philly


This is a recurring event, but we just wanted to remind ya’ll that’s it’s still in full swing. We’re talking drinks and live music with DJ Lee Jones from 7 pm to midnight.


Shakespeare in the Park

Clark Park

Twelfth Night is a play about a woman who pretends to be a man, but then ends up in a weird love triangle… classic Shakespeare, but this version will be modernized with live music by student musicians and a glam rock spin that’s definitely worth a watch. Show begins at 7 pm.



Power Plant Productions


We’re always down for a pop-up cat fair with adoptions, meet and greets with famous internet cats, art, toys, housewares, and apparel for sale. Last year they raised $6,000 for PAWS, and this year they’re trying to raise even more. Event runs 11 am to 7 pm.


Philly Vegan Pop Flea Market

Friends Center


From noon to 4 pm come support your Philly vegan and veg-friendly businesses who are owned and operated by people of color. There’s a long list of vendors with some incredible treats that are actually making me drool rn.


Marvel Movie Quizzo Brunch

Three parallel universes, gods, super heroes, and villains oh my! If you’re a Marvel super fan, this is your time to shine (at least from 12:30 to 2 pm!) #Nerdsrule


PMA Bike Ride 

Kensington and Allegheny 

“Make a stranger smile” is their motto, and bringing food and supplies to the homeless and hungry of Philadelphia is what they do. The journey begins at 2 pm and a bike is not required.


Barre Class


Altheta is hosting a free barre class at its store on Chestnut from 9 to 9:45 am, so make sure to get there early, and BYO mat and water.


Sunday 7.29

East Passyunk Street Car Festival

East Passyunk Ave 

We mentioned this in our summer festival guide, but here it is again. Along with the 150+ different cars, trucks, and motorcycles being showcased from 11 am to 4 pm, this street festival and will also feature live music & DJs, a free moon bounce and kids entertainment, a craft show, and street food.


Midday Movie


Satellite Girl and Milk Cow is a kinda kooky animated love story by the award winning director Chang Hyung-yun. If you’re into sci-fi comic romance and want to start your week off with a feel-good movie, this is definitely it. The movie will run 4 to 6 pm.


Zodiac Killers Comedy Show

Astrology cult followers, this Zodiac show is for you! All comedians participating in this standup show are Leos, but all signs are welcome to attend (except maybe you, Tauri).


Rooftop Boogie Party

South Bowl

If you want to get your boogie on to some soul/funk/disco, the party will take place on the rooftop of South Bowl from 5 to 10 pm.



The Barbary

It’s really quite simple: karaoke and drag performances 10 pm to 2 am. Your Sunday night is made, you’re welcome.
