Cheap Date: Philly Events for $20 and Under (9/22-9/24)

The weekend is back and the weather isn’t going to stay this nice for much longer. Take this as an opportunity to get yourself outside and experience all of the cool things going on in Philly.

There are several outdoor festivals and flea markets this time of year. If shopping isn’t your thing, most of these events sell food and beer, too.

Cheap Date is your weekly guide to having an eventful weekend without spending too much money. Check out what’s going on this weekend:

Friday, 9.22

Chasing Trane

Hatfield House

Free

A documentary about artist John Coltrane. Anyone who appreciates the power of music will enjoy this film.

 

4th Friday on Fabric Row

South Street Headhouse District

Free

A night of extended business hours for shopping, art, music, and food. It’s the perfect time to get some fall goodies.

 

Oktoberfest

International House Philadelphia

$10 to $15

Experience a day of getting to know your German roots, or learn about a new culture with German beer, food, music, and dancing.

 

Fall Festival

Spruce Street Harbor Park

Free

An all-weekend event with live music, a petting zoo, pumpkin carving, and more. Also, local beers and cocktails will be served from the beer garden.

 

Paint the Pumpkin

Fox & Hound

Free

Try your new favorite pumpkin shandy on tap followed up with some arts and crafts.

 

Saturday, 9.23

East Falls Flea Market

McMichael Park

Free

Just minutes from Center City, you can check out this outdoor flea market. Shop antique and vintage pieces and be sure to stop by the beer garden.

 

Family Weekend: Pets in Prison

Eastern State Penitentiary

$10 to $16

Learn how animals impact prisons around the world at this event. You will also be able to meet and adopt dogs.

 

Makers Market

The Schmidt’s Commons

Free

One of the last Makers Markets this season. Beer garden, live music, and a ton of cool stuff to buy.

 

Harvest Fest 2017

Brewerytown Garden

$10 to $20

Food, raffles, artists, and crafts. You can also bring a children’s coat to be donated and pay a discounted $10 admission.
