Ian McElhinney is a Northern Irish actor best known for portraying Ser Barristan Selmy in Game of Thrones and General Dodonna in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He has a long list of TV and film credits, including roles in The Fall with Gillian Anderson, Ripper Street, Hornblower, Cold Feet, Queer as Folk, and The Tudors. He was announced in the role of Ser Selmy on 12 July 2010. McElhinney has thoroughly read through the book series and is quite familiar with its internal history – which is entirely fitting, given that Ser Barristan is one of the older characters in the story and spent over forty years at the royal court, and personally experienced many of the major political events of the past half-century, ultimately leading him to join Daenerys Targaryen in her quest to take back her throne. He can currently be seen on the SyFy Channel new show Krypton, which details the life of Superman’s grandfather on his home planet prior to its destruction. He is married to playwright/actress Marie Jones; the couple started their own company, Rathmore Productions. TICKETS -WWW.PHILADELPHIACOMICCON.COM
