Philadelphia is an underrated hotbed for art, science, and culture. Home to an array of venues, museums and institutions, there’s really no good excuse to be bored in this city.
Feed Your Curiosity is a weekly roundup of events in Philadelphia that will broaden your horizons, tantalize your mind, and hopefully sophisticate you into something more than the heathen that you are. Here’s what’s going on this week.
Monday, 7.23
Shark Week Movie Night
Bait & Switch Seafood Bar
Free
Kick off shark week with a classic American Great White tale: Jaws. The movie starts at 8:30, and the bar will have food and drink specials all night. I wouldn’t advise attending if you’re going to the beach soon. Or if you’re afraid of huge monsters with multiple rows of teeth and an endless hunger for human flesh.
Nightcap Cabaret
L’Ètage
The cabaret starts at 7:30 pm, and the theme is Our Boys of Summer. If you frequent summer hits radios on Pandora or you enjoy singing and dancing men, this event seems pretty spot on. Who wouldn’t love to be surrounded by food, alcohol, and cute summer boys who are musically inclined?
Tuesday, 7.24
National Tequila Day
Infusion Lounge
From 6 pm to midnight, dance the night away to some Latin beats, do some body shots, and let tequila soothe your stressed out soul. Infusion lounge will have at least 30 tequila cocktails at a special price, including margaritas, palomas, and many more. It’s tequila day, though, so you’re going to have to take a shot regardless.
Jawn(t) at The Barnes
The Barnes Foundation
The Barnes is hosting a super cool night of museum tours given by eclectic Philly locals with a whole lot to say. Starting at 6 pm, these guides are guaranteed to give you a fresh new look at the collection, and an experience you won’t forget.

Step one: bring your least artistic friends to paint nite. Step two: spill something all over their art. There you have it! You can be the best artist in the place, as long as you show up at 7 pm. All materials will be provided.
Whisker Wednesdays
Le Cat Cafe
Free
Come enjoy a complimentary drink and two hours with some adoptable cuties! This happy hour will occur every Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm, so if you’re missing this one, don’t worry. There’s always time for drinking and playing with animals.
Thursday, 7.26

Bring your pup to the Morris Animal Refuge for happy yappy hour! The event runs from 5 to 8 pm, and your ticket purchase includes three drinks and food. And, if you decide you want to adopt one of the doggies there, you get $20 off. Discount dogs!
Poetry & Open Mic
African American Museum Philly
Starting at 7:30, Philly’s best poets will be performing their work on stage. The show begins with an open mic, so if you have things you’d like to express to a pretty large audience, now’s the time. Otherwise, bulk up on some tissues and practice snapping your fingers.
Friday, 7.27
Potter Prom
Fado Philly
If you loved Harry Potter in high school… you probably didn’t have too many friends. Now’s your chance to go to prom with all your fellow wizards in Philly! Wear a costume if you want to win the contest. They’ll be serving Butterbeer and a special Potter-themed dinner menu from 8 pm to 2 am.
Saturday, 7.28
Philly ’80s Party
Voltage Lounge
Voltage Lounge is hosting a huge ’80s celebration from 9 pm to 2 am. Throw on your leg warmers and leotard and get physical, Philly! Regardless of your musical genre preference, DJ Marco will have you up and dancing all night.

There will be delicious food, drinks, and other fun vegan products available for purchase. There are going to be at least 20 vendors, so everyone’s needs will be satisfied.
Sunday, 7.29
Love Me Some Comedy
Punch Line Philly
Come to Punch Line Philly for one of their most popular comedy shows. It begins at 8:30 pm, and will feature comics performing stand-up, skits, improv, and more. You’re going to need some laughs on a Sunday night.
Sippin’ and Stitchin’
Tattooed Mom
From 3 to 5 pm, Tattooed Mom is hosting a patchwork and embroidery workshop. All materials are included, and cocktails and food will be available for purchase. Plus, 20 percent of the proceeds of this event go the the ACLU. The more you drink, the more money you raise, the more human rights you secure. You’re a hero.
