Philadelphia is an underrated hotbed for art, science, and culture. Home to an array of venues, museums and institutions, there’s really no good excuse to be bored in this city.

Feed Your Curiosity is a weekly roundup of events in Philadelphia that will broaden your horizons, tantalize your mind, and hopefully sophisticate you into something more than the heathen that you are. Here’s what’s going on this week.

 

Monday 5.7

Does Rebecca Craig, owner of the Cake Life Bakeshop in Philadelphia, have what is takes to be the next Best Baker in America? Support your local Philadelphian and this premier party as she takes on eight other bakers.

Celebrate the warm weather while channeling your inner Picasso. The theme for this paint nite is “My Garden.” The price includes all of the necessary materials. The creativity starts at 7 pm.

Billy Joel Birthday Bash

Celebrate Billy Joel’s 69th birthday with a live acoustic tribute and cocktails to honor the musician. The event starts at 7 pm.

 

Mummies and Martinis

Explore the world of Ancient Egypt and learn about mummies all while enjoying a cocktail. The price of admission includes one free drink. This event takes places from 6 pm to 8 pm.

 

Manayunk’s Got Talent

Do you have what it takes to be the champion of Manayunk’s Got Talent? Share your talent for a chance to win a trip to Music City in Nashville, Tennessee. Two finalists will be chosen to move onto the next round. The finale will take place on June 6th. Philadelphia Taco Festival

Be sure to visit the margarita bar so you can wash down those tacos with a delicious drink. There will also be live entertainment, as well as a taco and hot chili pepper eating contest.

 

Mother’s Day Tea

Museum of the American Revolution

Take a trip back in this time with a tea party at the Museum of the American Revolution. You will be able to spend the afternoon with Martha Washington learning about the role of women in the Revolution while enjoying some delicious treats. There are seatings at 1 and 2 pm.
