Philadelphia is an underrated hotbed for art, science, and culture. Home to an array of venues, museums and institutions, there’s really no good excuse to be bored in this city.
Feed Your Curiosity is a weekly roundup of events in Philadelphia that will broaden your horizons, tantalize your mind, and hopefully sophisticate you into something more than the heathen that you are. Here’s what’s going on this week.
Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul
James Jordan and The Same Stream are returning to Philadelphia for their annual summer concert. The concert begins at 7:30 pm, and will feature American choral music of many varieties. Sit back, relax, and let Monday melt away.
Golf & Social
From 5 to 11 pm, Golf & Social is hosting an awesome happy hour with $4 wine, beer, mixed drinks, and a free rooftop sunset. There will also be games, music, and free parking. Come hang out with the weirdos of Fishtown.
Punch Line Philly
Punch Line is back with more themed trivia, this time with five rounds of tough questions for The Big Bang Theory’s most devout fans. The questions start at 8 pm, and the event is free, but make sure you register online with your team. Or by yourself, if you’re that confident.
Love City Brewing Company
Love City Brewing is partnering with the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia for this fundraiser honoring Pablo Avendano, a delivery cyclist tragically killed by a vehicle on Spring Garden Street. From 5 pm to close, Love City is donating a portion of all profits to the Coalition. Come help make a change and have a pint in memory of Pablo.
Nothing says summer quite like two young Lindsay Lohans, long lost identical twins reunited by chance at summer camp, desperately trying to get their birth parents back together after 12 years. Enjoy the river view, food, and drinks, and The Parent Trap starting at 8:30 pm. I promise you’ll go home with a new secret handshake, craving Oreos and peanut butter.
Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens
From 5 to 8 pm, enjoy an evening of drinks, crafts, and music at The Magic Gardens. And now, for your favorite sentence ever to read: drinks are included with ticket purchases. Don’t come if you’re under 21 (unless you have a good fake).
PHS Pop-Up South Street
University of Delaware Blue Hens, this one’s for you. Or your friends or family. Or anyone who knows a UD alum. Come for the happiest of hours from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, and reminisce on your college years, the ones that took place before the looming curse of adulthood struck down and ruined your life.
1030 N American St., Unit 901
Come learn what In Between The lines is all about. They offer relationship and individual therapy from this Northern Liberties location. This open house includes ice cream, a tour of the space, free psychic readings and more. Oh, did we mention Kelley Dougherty Eubanks of Relationship Views fame is running the show?
The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts
From 6 to 8 pm, on PAFA’s Plaza, Conjunto Philadelphia is bringing the music of Havana to Philly. Ticket purchase includes one free drink. Come celebrate the weekend.
@ConjuntoPhilly is coming to Lenfest Plaza on August 9th for a Rhythm and Brews happy hour. Inspired by PAFA's summer exhibition SWARM, Conjunto brings the sounds of Havana to North Broad Street. Tickets include a complimentary Mojito or Yard’s beverage for you to sip while you hum or dance along with friends. http://ow.ly/FgBY30l2VHH #linkinbio for tickets
Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education
Starting at 8 pm, The Center for Environmental Education is hosting a campfire and stargazing party to celebrate upcoming Meteor Shower, the Perseids. Come learn about our beautiful sky and get a closer look at your favorite constellations.
Take a journey through Spain without having to move, spend lots of money, or sit next to a smelly person on a plane. Enjoy a sampling of five different Spanish wines, learn all about the grapes that made them, and the history of the land that grew them. The event starts at 6 pm.
Open Space, 1014 N. Marshall Street
From 12 to 5 pm, support local Philly entrepreneurs and enjoy what people are calling an “indoor shopping oasis.” There will be tons of goods available for purchase, as well as an open cash bar, music, giveaways, and more.
Cavanaugh’s River Deck
Are you a part of the LGBTQIA+ community? Are you a supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community? From 3 to 8 pm, Back 2 Basics and The Main Event are hosting a huge outdoor summer celebration for you. There will be music, drink specials, and Philly’s hottest queer crowd. Don’t miss out!
