Here it is. The moment we’ve all been waiting for, the return of the Irish traditions that every Philadelphian knows and loves. Grab your obnoxious green outfits and prepare to have a liquid diet of straight Guinness, Jameson, and green beer. It’s almost March, and that means its time to brace yourselves because St. Patrick’s Day is only around the corner.
The luck of the Irish is bringing you some great drink specials this year. ‘Tis the season to bar crawl so check out these bar crawls, parties and specials for this year’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Get ready for some shenanigans, Philly.
These are the best places to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Philadelphia
Broad and Market Streets
On Sunday, March 11, you can enjoy the 248th year of the St. Patrick’s Day parade. This event may not be on St. Patrick’s Day itself, but why not start the festivities a week early? As always, decorated floats will parade throughout Philly from noon to 3 pm.
Running strong for 30+ years, the Erin Express is the creation of both Cavanaugh’s and Smokey Joe’s. Every year they round up 10+ buses and have them rotate around the most popular bars of Philly for two consecutive weekends. This year, the Erin Express will be running March 10th for the “warm up crawl” and the 17th for the Official Erin Express Pub Crawl. Buses will start running from 11 am to 6 pm. This event is free.
$10 to $25
For the second annual crawl, participants will be traveling throughout Old City to over 10 participating bars. If registered for this bar crawl you will receive a free T-shirt, free covers and different accessories to wear during the day. There will be DJs and entertainment at select locations with drink specials including $3 domestic beers and $4 well drinks.
$25 to $47
This event will take the partygoers throughout the city. Each crawler will have free covers and drink specials at each participating venue.
Howl at the Moon
On Friday, March 16th check out the place that loves to celebrate. They’re starting the shenanigans early this year with their featured green Bud Lites, Jameson car bombs and Green Tea Mini-Buckets specials.
This bar crawl is happening on both March 11 and March 17. Participating venues include JJ Bootleggers, Infusion Lunge, Finn McCools Ale House, Milkboy, and more. This bar crawl is from 1 to 8 pm.
Fado, Center City
Fado’s will be having a month long celebration of activities starting March 3rd. Since St. Patrick’s Day is on a Saturday, prepare to party all day and all night at Fado’s Pub. This is their holiday and they’re not celebrating it lightly. All they advise you to do is show up early for the daylong event. Doors open at 7:30 am with brunch being served until 1 pm. With live music during the morning and a DJ throughout the night, the party won’t stop.
U Bar Philadelphia
As the official Gayborhood St. Patty’s Day party, U Bar Philadelphia is hosting a St. Patty’s Day bash. They are giving away free T-shirts and one free drink per ticket along with other drink and food specials. You do not need to be LGBTQ+ to attend this event. This party is from 2 to 5 pm.
This event is from 11 am to 9 pm. Guests with VIP tickets will get $2 Miller Lites from 11 am to 1 pm. There will be live music by Sensational Soul Cruisers at 2 pm.
XFINITY Live! knows how to throw a party so nothing is stopping them from doing the same for this celebration. From live performances by Bangarang in the Victory Beer Hall to a “cash confetti celebration,” this place will be going up. Drink specials, including green beer, and free parking after 8 pm will be available to guests.
St. Stephen’s Green
From 10 am to 7:30 pm, St. Stephen’s Green will shut down 17th Street to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. At this block party, they will sell $3 Miller Lites (16 oz) as well as other drink and food specials. They will even have giveaways, corn hole, face painting, and beer pong.
Journey through the streets to visit 50 + locations with The Shamrock Crawl from noon to 2 am. There will be no cover all day plus great drink specials from 12 to 6 pm. To make it even better, everyone will receive a coupon books with over $100 in discounts. These discounted specials include buy one get one subs from Jersey Mike’s, free mini chicken cheesesteak from Slack’s, $1 dumplings from Humpty Dumplings, $1 coffee from Joe Coffee, and more.
McGillin’s Old Ale House
This is McGillin’s favorite day of the year and it’s finally here. The doors McGillin’s will open at 10 am. As always, the bartenders will be serving up the green beer. This year they are selling Irish potato martinis and an authentic stout from Ireland during the parade and pub crawls.

Pregame St. Patrick’s day with this bar tour. On March 16th, you have the opportunity to tour one or all bars on the list. This event lasts from 5 to 10 pm.
Fox And Hound Sports Tavern

With this bar crawl, you will tour Rittenhouse and Olde City while receiving drink specials and free admission for participating pubs. Registration is at Fox And Hound. You can visit the venues in any order you want. This event starts at noon on St. Patrick’s Day and will go all night. For those who party hard, the fun continues with this after party, starting at 9 pm after the Irish stroll.
The Penalty Box
Drink specials include $2 domestic bottles, $3 import bottles, and $3 shots of any Irish Whiskey. There will also be prizes, giveaways and free food, including Shepherd’s Pie and Ham and Cabbage. It is also the owners’ 11th wedding anniversary — make sure to congratulate them because, if you do, your first beer is on the house. This event starts at 8 pm.
